Well?..Say SOMETHING...

This is the site....new and improved....if something doesn't work, let me know....if you love it, let me know...if you hate it, me, the color, the smell, or something else..ferrets excluded....as much as I hate to say it...let me know....

Here are a few bits of important info...

*If you are viewing this site in 800X600 resolution, in Internet Explorer, click View, Text Size, and choose SMALL...

*or..alternatively, click on the little button below my ugly photo that says "View Old Format"...this will take you to a new page that is formatted differently..

*If you are running 1024X768, you should be viewing this site as God intended it...and it should look pretty good....

Many thanks goes out to The Bartender and Pam from Hammerhead Designs...those two rock, baby...so, feel free to go on over there and have a look around...

Eric: I just tried to put in new code for the search function... I used the original code from the MT template page and it still didn't work. You might ask the blogger who moved you over to take a look at it. I think it's somewhere in your MT set-up. Sorry I couldn't do anymore.

that's ok...I'll ask him in the morning..thanks for trying though...

However there is a strange odor - like something burning, oh shit, that's dinner!!! That's what I get for sitting here exploring.

It looks great except the font is so large on the posts. That's in 1024x768 with text size set to medium. If I set it to smaller, it looks about right. But then the font looks to small on a lot of other sites. The font looks like 14. It is easy to read. I'd rather it be large than too small, which seems to be the rage among the young teenage bloggers.

Overall it looks great and everything works correctly.

I have to say that Mozilla sucks the big one. Slow as molasses in the winter and renders colors and transparancey for shit.

That being said, we may need to take out that funky referrer's script. Those things sure cause lots of problems in the design rendering properly.

It's your call, but that's what I would do.

I've been wondering about something, so I decided I'd ask you now. Why do some blogs have a calendar of the month in the margin? I've noticed that the days they have an entry is usally highlighted. But why have a calendar for the month?

I'm viewing it on 1280X1024 with text set on Largest. Looks wonderful. Yes I have a large screen and I've got old eyes - and I hate eyestrain - LOL.

Ms Anna: The calendar thingy [yes, thingy is certified technical terminology] is to link to that day's worth of posts. I find it pretty useless myself, but if everybody has one... It just makes reading a past days posts easier than going through the Category or Monthly Archives, that's all.

Mozilla sucks?

Homeboy, Firebird is the best browser out there. Stop dipping into your stock.

Spanky: We need to 86 that friggin referrs' code. It whacks out the sidebars, and when we put it at the bottom of the posts, it slows the page load down waiting for it to gather all of it's bogus information. It's your call, but that's why there is a pause befoe the sidebars load. I'm looking for a new referral lister and i may have found one... just waiting to get a return e-mail letting me know where to get a set up!

Geoffrey: Mozilla 1.5 really loads everything slow on my computer... a dog in wolf's clothing... maybe firebird is better? Not trying to "dog" you out here, just telling my experience with the product.

Thanks to The Bartender for explaining that thingy for me.

Last night when I went to check to see what had been changed, the three-column format loaded, but the middle column covered up almost half of the right column. The same thing happened just a few minutes ago. (IE6.0 8x6 resolution, I think.)

What will happen if I delete the "original" favorite in my IE6.0 and replace it (add) while I have the new 2-column format on-screen? Will I be adding a specific day's entry, or the home address in 2-column format?

Last night my computer locked-up (Windows, of course) when I went back to the 3-column format from the 2-column format (just used the back arrow). (I haven't been having any trouble with Windows locking up recently.) After I had re-started, when I went to call up Straight White Guy from my favorites list, the computer locked-up, again. Today, so far everything is okay. Just this site! Isn't that fun to know?

Take care,
Anna

Hey Ms Anna, just click on the old view button...and when you get to the two column site, make that your favorite..all posts made here should copy over there as well...

I don't know. Firebird loads faster for me that IE ever did on it's best day.

posted by: Geoffrey on January 5, 2004 08:53 PM

Goeffrey: I'll have to download it and give it a try then. Actually, I was talking about the relative time it takes for identical sites to load in IE 6.0 and Mozilla 1.5. that, plus Mozilla just kills the graphics for some reason under Win98SE at 1024x768. If firebired loads the site faster, and doesn't massacre the graphics and the stylesheets, maybe that's the way to go. But, my readers using Firebird used to switch back to IE before reading my site amoung others. I'll have to check with them if they still do that after I made some coding changes. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes mozilla does suck. Download opera from www.opera.com . Slowzilla (a.k.a mozilla 1.6) is the most god awful browser out there. I would use IE before Mozilla. It is no wonder Netscape died if after 5 years of hacking away on the open source code this is the best they could give us. What about a freaking auto-scroll for crying out loud! Thanks, but no thanks.
