Crime or Care?

OK, people...if you are going to have a should take CARE of it...I've had lots of dogs and cats...and, they ALL have stayed outside....if it was cold, we'd put a heat lamp in their house...if it was hot, we'd make sure they had extra water...THIS GUY doesn't see it that way....I dunno...I just don't see the crime in preventing cruelty....

NEWPORT TWP. - A woman recently cited with criminal trespass after allegedly entering a neighbor's yard to care for his dog is facing new charges after police found the pooch in her basement Friday night.
Sharon Pezzuti says she was just trying to protect the animal from that night's extremely low temperatures. But what Pezzuti calls animal kindness, police call a crime.

Pezzuti, 42, of 119 Robert St., was charged Monday with receiving stolen property for harboring "Blue," a Husky-Rottweiler mix owned by neighbor Lamar McGrantham.

"He had ice hanging from his face. His eyes were bloodshot. I thought, I'm not going to let this dog die, so I took him and put him in the basement," Pezzuti said.

According to AccuWeather, Friday's low temperature reached -7 degrees.

SPCA director Ed Gross said Tuesday the agency cannot order an owner to bring a dog inside as long as it has shelter. Blue has a dog house, which was purchased by Pezzuti.

I'm back. And omg, that poor woman. I feel so sorry for her. Though I bet she still thinks she did what was right even if she is being charged.

People are such asses to their pets. My horse has a heating lamp in his stall and toys. He has dental work done and all the normal stuff animals need. Not to mention my spoiled dog who goes to the 'salon' more than I do. I hate humans who do things like this to animals.

People who do that to animals should have the same thing done to them!

I've done that before. I've even fed and stolen starved horses.
This woman oughta get a pat on the back.

Where's PETA when you need them?

If it goes to trial, be interesting to see what the jury has to say. In a purely legal sense, she's wrong. But absent any further information, I'd vote to acquit.

..but then - my critters (3 dogs and seven cats) sleep on the bed, too. And the horses live in nice old military stables.

I watch " Animal Cops " every weeknight on Animal Planet, and you wouldn't believe the negligence of the pet owners.

I'm sure she's more than willing to do it again. Some people should not be pet owners.

You'd wonder why he even wants the dog if he's going to treat it like that. I'd like to tie that guy to a tree in the middle of winter and see how he handles the cold.

Instead of charging the woman, the owner should be arrested for cruelty. And damn it, where is PETA when stuff like this happens??
