Arnold...

...oh, and the hits just keep on coming... for those of you who are anti-poetry, you might not want to come around tonight... because, at the rate I am finding this stuff, we are going to have a steady stream.... heh... this one is a beauty, though... ahhhh... the theme?.... universal... Unrequited Love, baby... I was one sappy 16 year old.... but, upon finding this poem in my stack of papers... I was suddenly moved again... so, with my box of memories open for all to see... I give you Mr. Arnold...

Longing

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!
For so the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.

Come, as thou cam'st a thousand times,
A messenger from radiant climes,
And smile on thy new world, and be
As kind to others as to me!

Or, as thou never cam'st in sooth,
Come now, and let me dream it truth,
And part my hair, and kiss my brow,
And say, My love why sufferest thou?

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!
For so the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.
